The World Athletics Scoring Tables convert performances in all track and field events to a unified point scale. This makes it possible to compare a 100m sprint time with a long jump distance or a javelin throw — achievements that are otherwise impossible to rank against each other.
WA scores are used in combined events ranking, setting qualification standards for international competitions, athlete performance analysis, and coaching decisions about event specialization. Approximately 1000 points corresponds to international-level performance.
This tool covers 18 major outdoor events for both men and women: sprints (100m, 200m, 400m), middle/long distance (800m–10000m, 3000m SC), hurdles (110mH/100mH, 400mH), jumps (HJ, PV, LJ, TJ), and throws (SP, DT, HT, JT).
1200+ points approaches world record territory. 1100s indicate world championship medal contention. 1000s represent international-level performance. 900s are national elite. 800s are strong regional performers, and 600–799 indicates a competitive athlete.
The WA Scoring Tables (World Athletics Scoring Tables) were created in 1982 by Bojidar Spiriev to provide a unified performance evaluation system. They convert results from all track and field events into a common point scale, enabling fair comparison across different disciplines.
Each event and gender has unique coefficients (conversion factor, result shift, and point shift) derived from statistical analysis of world-class competition data. Points are calculated using a quadratic function of the shifted performance value.
This tool uses the official WA Scoring Tables 2025 Revised Edition (outdoor) coefficients. Scores are truncated to whole numbers, consistent with the official tables. As of March 3, 2026, this is the latest version published by World Athletics.
